Last month, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy narrowly missed out on winning a Super Bowl ring. But after marrying college sweetheart Jenna Brandt on March 9, the outspoken Christian athlete now sports a ring with even more significance.

More than 350 guests attended the couple’s nuptials last Saturday at Plymouth Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

“Best day of our lives,” Jenna captioned a wedding photo on Instagram. “I get to call my best friend my HUSBAND for forever and ever!!!”

Commenting on that post, Brock replied, “I love you, Mrs. Purdy.”

Brock Purdy Has a ‘Heart for Jesus,’ Says His Wife

After the couple got engaged in Florida last July, they each described wanting to pursue a Christ-centered marriage.

“My Jenna girl forever,” Brock Purdy wrote on Instagram, next to a photo of him kneeling to propose. “I can’t wait to be your husband and grow together in Christ.”

Jenna, who shared the same photo, wrote, “Brock Purdy — I love everything about you & your heart for Jesus more than any words can say.” In her Instagram bio, the new Mrs. Purdy describes herself as “spreading His love.”

Brock and Jenna Purdy, both 24, met while attending Iowa State University, where Brock played football and Jenna played volleyball. Jenna often attends his pro games, cheering for Brock and the 49ers. After San Francisco’s disappointing Super Bowl loss in February, she posted a photo of an on-field kiss with her fiancé. “What a season to be proud & thankful for,” she wrote.

Brock Purdy Is ‘on Fire for the Lord’

Brock Purdy was chosen last in the 2022 NFL Draft, earning him the tongue-in-cheek nickname Mr. Irrelevant. But the QB’s pro career has been incredibly relevant so far.

In two seasons, Purdy has played in two NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl, and he was a top contender for league MVP last season. After orchestrating two comebacks in the January playoffs, Purdy’s 49ers narrowly lost Super Bowl LVIII to the Kansas City Chiefs, in overtime.

But Purdy is clear that football isn’t his priority. Instead, he is open about his faith, saying he relies on Jesus as his life’s foundation. After coming from behind to win this year’s NFC Championship, Purdy told reporters he’d been thinking, “All right God, you’ve taken me here, and win or lose I’m going to glorify you.” The QB added, “That’s my peace, the joy, the steadfastness—that’s where I get it.”
